Comparison is the Thief of Joy

The internet has made comparisons convenient.

• LinkedIn: Am I doing well with my career?
• Instagram: Am I doing well with my social life?
• Twitter: Even worse: career + social life.

I used to tell myself that people only post their life’s highlights. It would cheer me up in the moment, but only temporarily.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” - Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Roosevelt’s famous quote has liberated me from that detrimental way of thinking. Life is too short to make comparisons.
