Impressions

If you impress people the first few months it should be because of your desire to learn, not because of your desire to rise to the top before you are ready.” - Robert Greene, Mastery

This sentence from Mastery is something I overlooked completely.

During an apprenticeship [1] individuals should impress their mentors by being intensely curious, rather than by showing ambition or desire.

Notes

[1] Apprenticeships in this context can refer to internships, early stage roles, or any environment involving mentorship.
