The Age of Abundance

I have been listening to Tiago Forte’s Building a Second Brain podcast recently and he mentions an interesting idea.

We live in the Age of Abundance. Ideas are everywhere. Quality books, essays, code, or any other examples of creative work are available to see.

Recently, I’ve been trying to find the most optimal way to learn new technologies. I’ve asked all my developer friends and the answer is always project-based learning.

Projects scared me. I couldn’t conceptualize what to build, or what a side project could be. I always tried to start from a blank canvas.

Now I realize, in The Age of Abundance there is no need to start from scratch. There are so many resources to pick and choose ideas from.

Don’t copy other work, use it to derive inspiration.
