The Infinite Game

I recently read The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek. The book states that there are two types of games, finite and infinite. Finite games have defined rules and an objective that defines winning. Infinite games, however, have no rules or objectives—they are impossible to win.

Life is an infinite game. There are no winners or losers. Every player’s objective is to keep playing.

I connected this idea to a movie I had recently seen, 3 Idiots. The movie is a satire on the education system and how it pushes students to race towards prestige and fortune. The main character—who possesses an infinite mindset—is the most fulfilled in the movie. He chooses to make decisions based on his priorities and mission.

Adopting an infinite mindset has made me focus on long term objectives. I choose to do things that I deem important rather than getting caught up in what the world deems important.
